Inspired by true events, Darin J. Sallam’s unflinching debut tells the story of a young girl who hopes to find a new life at a time of huge social and political upheaval.
Palestine, 1948. Farha (Karam Tahar), a 14-year-old girl, dreams of attending school in the city. But forced displacements are happening across Palestine, and bombs will soon rain down on the girl’s village. Farha dramatically revisits the violence of the Nakba and the forced expulsion of 700,000 Palestinian Arabs from their homeland through the eyes of the titular teenager.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Darin J. Sallam.
