Rift is an exhibition of new work by participants of the Young Artist Programme. Spanning sculpture, installation, photography, film, sound and performance, Rift reflects a year of collaboration and exchange.
Taking the idea of 'rift' as a new way of thinking, a gap or rupture, the artists engage with themes of identity, memory, language, care, surveillance and embodiment. The exhibition highlights the new practices, perspectives and dialogues that have emerged across the ICA Creatives programme.
For many of the participants, this marks the first time they have presented work in this context and in dialogue with one another. Together, the artworks consider how histories are carried and communities are formed, and how individuals navigate shifting cultural, political and social landscapes.
