While Isiah Medina has made five features since 2015, his short film work has been even more expansive, encompassing around 40 films since 2010. This programme brings together a selection of Medina's short films tracing a variety of both formal and narrative evolutions in his work, spanning an entire decade from 2010 to 2020.

From his 16mm shot debut Semi-auto colors (2010) and its merging of profoundly personal fictives with a burgeoning conception of a cinema of thought, through increasingly dexterous works of montage that bring together explorations of student debt, gender binaries, Hegelian formalisations, the music of Kanye West, and much more, Medina's short film work showcases an artist wrestling with the infinite possibilities of the medium, and treading new ground in the process.

"Directed between the ages of 18 and 28, the short films of Isiah Medina...form a Bildungsroman unlatched from the tradition of narrative." – Kelley Dong, Quantity Cinema
