Join us for the launch of Practicing Dying, the debut book and literary anti-memoir by Charlotte Northall, who will be in conversation with writer and critic Charlie Porter.
Published by the independent imprint Pilot Press, Practicing Dying is an anarchic, provocative, and tenderly self-deprecating anti-memoir that disrupts dominant narratives around mental health and addiction, while proposing an alternative approach to treating the “sickness of self” that afflicts our modern condition.
Through reflections on addiction, institutional systems, and lived experience, the book raises critical questions about what it means to be “an addict,” and why there may be vested corporate and societal interests in maintaining a narrow, individualistic understanding of recovery.
Join us for an exciting evening as author Charlotte Northall sits down with Charlie Porter to discuss her latest work and the urgent questions it raises.
‘A story of survival and even transcendence, one earned on every page. The existence of the book itself is hope.’ - Nate Lippens
