KANBE Yaeko (HIGASHINO Ayaka) may seem like an average college student, but she holds a deep-seated fear of men after a previous traumatic event. Despite this, she is in love with classmate and dancer MOROHASHI Daiya (SATO Kanta), whose looks and dancing skills conceal a dark, tightly-guarded secret.
KIRYU Natsuki (ARAGAKI Yui) and SASAKI Yoshimichi (ISOMURA Hayato) appear to be an ordinary couple. In reality they are connected not by love, but by a hidden fetish for spurting water.
Public prosecutor TERAI Hiroki (INAGAKI Goro) is at odds with his ten-year-old son, who chooses to chase his dreams of online video stardom instead of attending school, and his wife (YAMADA Maho), who wishes to support the child in his aspirations.
Although the problems they face, the backgrounds they come from, and the environments they inhabit are completely unconnected, the lives of these people begin to intersect little by little.
In (Ab)normal Desire, KISHI Yoshiyuki sensitively interrogates the idea of being “normal”, asking topical questions on our understandings of diversity and its true meaning. What is normal? Who has the right to judge normality?
