Tenderly and mischievously channeling Godard’s latter-day collage style, Leos Carax (Holy Motors, Annette) paints a self-portrait of sorts, combining moments from his films (plus unseen footage) with tributes to Godard, Bowie and other dear departed. Less a memoir than a personal response to the eternal question ‘what is cinema?’, It’s Not Me caps its melancholic magic with a musical coda guaranteed to lift the soul.
