Following his critically acclaimed debut, The Salt in Our Waters, the director returns with Master, a political drama set in the small Bangladeshi town of Mohoganj. The film follows Jahir, a high school history teacher whose socialist ideals carry him to an electoral victory, only for his convictions to erode under the pressures of bureaucracy and political compromise. Examining cronyism, power, and the collapse of individual agency, the film traces the moral descent of a man caught between public duty and institutional control. The film won the prestigious Big Screen Competition at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
