Artist Alexander Carey-Morgan buries himself within 572KG of clay for three consecutive days in the performance piece ‘To the Horizon and Back’.
Positioned between endurance, ritual and transformation, To the Horizon and Back explores thresholds between presence and absence, confinement and release, dissolution and renewal. The film, directed by Laurence Hills, documents both the physical endurance and psychological transformation of the performance, tracing a journey through liminality, vulnerability and creative metamorphosis. Featuring an original score by October of October and The Eyes, the film offers an intimate account of a work that pushes the body and mind to their limits in pursuit of change.
This screening will be followed by a discussion with artist Alexander Carey-Morgan and director Laurence Hills.
