Coinciding with the opening of Alvaro Barrington’s exhibition Back Home / I Am… I Said at Sadie Coles HQ, the artist has organised a musical event in collaboration with the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London. In his practice, Barrington frequently references music and engages with the different genres that influenced his artistic practice over the years. Over the years, Barrington organised concerts, performances and parties as part of his exhibitions. In 2022 the rapper Ghostface Killah, a member of Wu-Tang Clan, performed at the artist’s opening in Los Angeles. Since 2019 Barrington has collaborated with Notting Hill Carnival (NHC) by dressing the Mangrove Mas Band performance truck with his works and programming a series of concerts at the Powis Square and Horniman's stage. He extended this collaboration further by partnering with NHC at Glastonbury in 2023 and 2024.

This event draws on the artist’s Caribbean heritage and interest in reggae music and will feature a live performance by the legendary Jamaican singer Dawn Penn, alongside DJ sets from James Massiah and Fiyadred.
