The second of CTM x ICA’s two-day collaboration brings both the fiery exaltation of underground club and the feral quality of DIY noise shows together for an explosive and body-rattling night.

Saturday 23 November:

Kuntari
Nídia & Valentina Magaletti
Loraine James
O Ghettão

Naming their genre Primal-core, Indonesian duo Kuntari play a precise yet raw, abstract form of metal, mixing trumpet with tons of variation from traditional Indonesian rhythms—resulting in an abstraction of metal’s cutting intensity and mathematics, filtered through a feral, dark ambience.

Nídia melds a hypnotic fusion of Afro-Portuguese rhythms—Kuduro’s relentless pulse, Tarraxinha’s sultry sway, and Batida’s sharp syncopation—within the mechanical architecture of house and techno. With roots in prog and bebop, Valentina Magaletti’s dynamic fusion of traditional and experimental methods incorporates everything from marimba and vibes to contact microphones and found objects. The duo’s rhythmic expertise and connection through intricate beats and infectious melodies is celebrated in their multi-layered collaboration, immersing listeners in a world where rhythm reigns supreme and movement is inevitable.

A fixture of London’s eclectic music underground, Loraine James approaches her craft with voracious curiosity and a peerless style. Her wide exposure to jazz, electronica, UK drill, and grime is reassembled through her intuitive skills and intimate, almost diaristic approach, resulting in an evolving, richly textured body of work including three albums for the iconic Hyperdub label, a tribute to minimalist composer Julius Eastman, and various side-projects such as an ambient LP under her project Whatever the Weather.

A collision of DJ Danifox, DJ Firmeza, and DJ N* Fox, O Ghettão’s enthralling mix of the freshest in afro-deep-house, kuduro, and minimal povera jazz is a polyrhythmic powerhouse. Every set by the Príncipe Discos supergroup is filled with mystic reverence, genre-blending prowess, and an unparalleled knack for turning even the most experimental swing into a home run floor-filler.
