Emerging from Manchester's fertile music scene, Mandy, Indiana have rapidly established themselves as a force in the experimental/noise scene. This December, they present an exclusive in-the-round performance at the ICA. Using the venue’s state-of-the-art d&b Soundscape system, the band will explore into the creative possibilities of spatial audio, taking their electrifying live sound to new heights.
The quartet— Valentine Fourreau (vocals), Scott Fair (guitar/production), Simon Catling (synth), and Alex Macdougall (drums)—has captivated audiences across the US and Europe this year with their genre-defying sound and immersive live performances. Appearing at festivals such as Primavera, Coachella, and Roskilde, their live show is a thrilling exploration of tension and release, pushing the boundaries of sound and space.
Mandy, Indiana’s 2023 debut album, ‘i’ve seen a way’, released via Fire Talk, was hailed as one of the year's best albums by New York Times, Pitchfork, The Guardian, and more. Tracks like “Idea Is Best” and “Drag [Crashed]” showcase their ability to blend industrial, club-ready beats with haunting vocals and experimental textures. The album was recorded in unconventional locations such as caves, crypts, and shopping malls, creating a unique sonic landscape that is both chaotic and precision-engineered.
This project is supported by d&b audiotechnik.
