Belgian-Egyptian musician Tamino performs one night solo in the Theatre.

Tamino has refined a sound between melancholy and fragility, restricting himself to voice and guitar. He started playing guitar when he found his grandfather’s in the attic at the age of fourteen. His grandfather, Muharram Fouad, was a singer and performer from the golden age of Egyptian film and Tamino’s melodies often reach back to them, using in particular those drawn from the tones of the maqam. Beyond his solo work, Tamino has performed with the Nagham Zikrayat Orchestra (a Brussels-based ensemble made up of refugees from Iraq and Syria), the Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood, and Lana Del Rey.
