Each film offers a glimpse into the diverse ways communities connect with their past, find strength in their beliefs, and strive for a better tomorrow.

Mann Moriya, dir. Hashim Khan, Pakistan 2023, 5 min.

In the arid expanse of Pakistan's Thar Desert, a once-harmonious indigenous community now grapples with the ecological fallout of urbanization. As their connection with nature fades, the delicate desert ecosystem faces unprecedented peril. Somewhere, in the timeless deserts of Rajasthan, a family of nomadic musicians traverse across the landscape, moving from village to village. Led by his father who plays the dholak, Sarwar, 9 years old and full of hope, sings and performs to the village folks, earning whatever little money and water people can spare in exchange. Frustrated with living in such dire circumstances, Sarwar seeks solace in the folk tales narrated to him and his sister Laali by his grandmother under the starry sky. Sarwar soon discovers that the magic and wisdom that lies within these folk tales will help him change the course of his family's fate while unearthing an unexpected truth.

Karachi is famous for being home to the shrine of Sufi Saint - Pir Mangho. This documentary explores the mystical tale of the Sufi Saint and the hundreds of crocodile disciples he left behind.

Moshari, dir. Nuhash Humayun, Bangladesh 2022, Bengali with English subtitles, 20 min.

The end of the world forces two sisters together, inside a mosquito net (moshari), just to survive—but first they must survive each other

Doprujhiri, dir. Asma Beethe, Bangladesh 2023, Bengali with English subtitles, 29 min.

Doprujhiri The tale of a small community living in the hillside area of Bangladesh. This village is named after a stream of water that flows next to the village and provides fresh water. People of this village share an intrinsic relationship with the surrounding. Doprujhiri explores the abrupt human intervention and how it may disrupt age old way of living. Focusing on the struggle of a small community Doprujhiri depicts the immediate aftermath of the alarming practice of ruining the biodiversity and nature-human bonding.

Slow Shift, dir: Shambhavi Kaul, India 2023, 9 min.

Langurs contemplate their world as it changes around them. In Slow Shift, humans, animals, music, and rock are entangled in dialogue. The film is shot in Hampi, India in the remains of a 14th century city that is also a World Heritage site in the state of Karnataka. The film playfully interrogates various intersections between ancient and geological timescales, the real and mythic, the lived and preserved, and human and animal.
