Following the critically acclaimed breakout hit Hawa, the director returns to folkloric horror in his sophomore feature, Roid. Set in rural Bangladesh, the film follows Shadhu, a struggling farmer who abandons his eccentric wife multiple times, only to be haunted by her inexplicable return each time a palm fruit falls. Against a rain-soaked, foreboding landscape, the film weaves the supernatural with meditations on longing, fate, and desire, drawing on the genesis myth of Adam and Eve as an allegorical frame. Atmospheric and deeply unsettling, the film screens following its World Premiere at International Film Festival Rotterdam.
